The Importance of Proper Sacrificial Anode Installation
For a sacrificial anode to effectively protect your vessel, proper installation is critical.
Here are the quick tips to ensure Nautical Armor sacrificial anode is doing its job:
Direct Metal-to-Metal Contact:
The anode must have a low-resistance, metal-to-metal connection with the surface it is meant to protect.
This can be achieved by securing it directly to the metal or using high-quality stainless steel wire for conductivity.
Clean Metal Surface:
Before installation, make sure the metal surface is clean and bare.
Paint or corrosion can disrupt the anode’s effectiveness.
No Paint on Anode’s Surface:
Anodes need to be exposed to the surrounding water environment to function properly. If they are covered in paint, they won’t work as intended.
The only exception is specific, electrically conductive, non-toxic paint.
Correct Installation is Key:
Improperly installed anodes won’t protect as intended, resulting in poor performance and leaving your vessel’s structure vulnerable.
